The 22-year-old - now being groomed by Whitney Houston's US agent - has already had 2007's biggest release in Bleeding Love which followed from 2006's biggest-selling single A Moment Like This.

But in an exclusive interview in a Sunday magazine the unlikely diva reminded the world why we all fell for her in the first place.

On Los Angeles: “Most evenings I found myself alone in my hotel room watching the telly.” (She was lonely and missed her boyfriend, who is an electrician).

On the beach outside her hotel: “Having a beach next door to my hotel apartment in LA was lovely. At my mum’s house, we have a cemetery.”

On shooting pop videos: “The director wanted me to be sexy, but because I had the flu, it was hard being sultry.”

On younger brother Kyle: “My younger brother did go to Sylvia Young [theatre school], but there was no football pitch, so he didn’t stay.”

On success and mega-stardom: "Obviously I'm earning more than I did when I was on £100 a week at Pizza Hut, but I'm not rich. I still wear clothes from Topshop and my Ugg boots are fake!"

Cowell urges public to avoid 'secret' Leona album

Music mogul Simon Cowell has urged the public to boycott singer Leona Lewis' secret album.
The record entitled 'The Best Kept Secret' was recorded with rival record label UEG before Lewis signed a recording contract with Cowell after winning British TV talent show The X Factor in 2006.
Cowell is taking legal action against the rival label who are rushing out the LP ahead of Lewis' official debut album Spirit which hits the shops next month.

He says: "What I would say is that people should wait to buy the proper album and not get conned into buying a bunch of demos, because that is what they are. "I will try and stop it."

"Take That deserve it!!"

Last week Leona managed to shift 218,805 copies of single Bleeding Love placing her straight at No 1.

He told the Daily Mirror: "Take That were used to spoil the Leona party but it backfired and I feel really disappointed for them.

"We announced Leona's release date first and their camp must have thought they could beat her. I imagine the band will be having words with their label this week."

However, Lewis has said she is determined to stick to her roots. She explained: "I'll never change my personality no matter what happens to me or what I'm surrounded by. I'll never be a diva, I'll always stay true to my east London roots.

"I don't feel like a famous pop star. I don't think I ever will. Since X Factor ended I've had loads of people around me who come everywhere with me, which is strange and it took a while to get used to it.

"But I've come to realise these people are all trying to help me," continued the star. "I've gone from being a normal working girl to this so it's a bit hard to take it all in."

Leona doesn't want to look like she's got dreams above her station with her choice of new home. "No-one is making any positive decisions. Instead the pair of them have been bickering nonstop. Leona Lewis stays top of revamped charts

"X Factor" winner Leona Lewis held onto the top position for a second week in the new-look singles charts on Sunday with her debut single "A Moment Like This", the Official UK Charts Company (OCC) said.

Billed as one of the biggest shake-ups since its inception 54 years ago, Sunday's chart was the first time the OCC had included any song available as an Internet download regardless of its release date.

Previously only songs which were physically available for purchase in shops had counted towards the weekly chart.
The OCC said the "dramatic development" would be more reflective of what music Britons were buying, and could mean that old tunes, tracks by unknown artists or unreleased songs on albums might hit the top of the charts.

Leona Denies Rumours

Simon and Leona in America
X FACTOR beauty LEONA LEWIS has hit back at claims she would bed SIMON COWELL to bag a record deal. Some bookies are even offering odds on shy Leona getting engaged to the show’s acid-tongued judge next year. [...]“But it makes me angry when people say the show has been fixed — it’s not at all. I deserve to be here. have worked so hard at trying to improve. I give 100 per cent every week and I really want to win. I just want to concentrate on singing and on getting a record deal. That is my dream.”
